I spent most of this spring working and saving money to go on this trip. But I believe that the Lord wanted me in Ghana and He wanted me to make sacrifices to get there. I learned that obeying the Lord opens doors to many kinds of happiness.
Before we left I came up with this weird plan to buy fabric in Ghana, sew it into aprons and then sell the African aprons in boutiques and to women at FUMC. Half of the proceeds would go back to Ghana, to a vocational school for women who aren't otherwise able to provide for their families. Before we left, it was an idea. When we got there, it became reality.
One of the ACM pastors is trying to build a vocational school in Nkwanta. The name of the school is "Destiny Vocational School".
Because, as he says "We are changing the destiny of these women." As soon as he said it, I thought, "I think we are changing my destiny too."
Since we've been back, I still don't have any money, but I do have a lot of fabric, and I have discovered a purpose and a passion that is drawing me closer to Christ and probably back to Ghana.
